Pre-Workshop Tour: Participants will visit both the Seattle Aquarium and Burke Museum. Pre-workshop registration includes return transportation from the host hotel and between venues.

Main Workshop Begins: The evening will include a welcome reception featuring appetizers and keynote speaker, along with contests and meet and greet opportunities. The evening event is included in the main workshop ticket. The reception will include a welcome from Washington State’s Chief Veterinarian and a keynote address from Dr. Paul Rose of Exeter University and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

Thursday, October 26 & Friday, October 27, 2023

Main Workshop: Both days will include speakers and hands on learning opportunities at the Woodland Park Zoo. There will be a variety of speaker sessions at the zoo conference facilities, and lunch will be provided. Hotel guests have breakfast included in their stay.

The evening of October 26 includes a dinner and the annual IWWA fundraiser auction, and the evening of October 27 includes the annual IWWA Banquet and Awards evening, as well as a keynote speaker. Our keynote for October 27, 2023 is Tasha DiMarzio, who will share her experiences working with captive and wild populations and her observations of the field through her work in Alaska over many years.

Transportation to and from the host hotel and the zoo is included, as well as zoo admission and evening event admission with the main workshop ticket.

Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29, 2023

Post-Workshop Tour: Participants will board our coach bus or take their own transportation as we checkout from the host hotel in the morning for our first private facility tour, following which we will take a ferry to the Olympic Peninsula and stay the night at the Red Lion Port Angeles Harbor. Dinner is provided at the host hotel, along with a no host bar, if desired. We will also have a guest speaker join us to discuss native waterfowl and the Pacific Northwest environment. The next morning we will visit another private collection before returning to Seattle that afternoon, arriving at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport approximately at 6 pm. Post-workshop registration includes bus transportation, lunch and dinner on October 28, 2023 and breakfast and lunch on October 29, 2023.
